OLIMJE

Costruito nell' 11° secolo, il castello ha conosciuto diversi proprietari e nel 1658, il protonotaio Ivan Zakmardy di Zagabria lo acquistò il castello e lo donò ai frati dell'Ordine di S. Paolo di Lepoglava. I frati Paolini adattarono il castello alle esigenze monastiche costruendovi una bellissima chiesa Barocca ed una farmacia riccamente affrescata che è considerata la più antica d’Europa dopo Parigi e Dubrovnik. Nel 1990, il castello fu affidato dallo stato alla diocesi di Maribor per continuare l’antica opera dei frati Paolini. Da allora, i frati Francescani dell’Ordine dei Frati Minori Conventuali hanno rivalorizzato l’intero complesso religioso ed ogni anno danno il benvenuto a migliaia di pellegrini e turisti provenienti da tutta Europa.

OLIMJE

Built in the 11th century throughout the centuries the castle has had different owners. In 1658, proto notary Ivan Zakmardy of Zagreb became the new owner and donated the castle to the monks of the Order of St. Paul, in Lepoglava.
They set in Olimje for 120 years and built a magnificent Baroque church. The monks also established a beautiful frescoed pharmacy, considered the third old pharmacy of Europe, still existing and well preserved, after Paris and Dubrovnik.
In 1990, government entrusted the Maribor diocese with the complex of Olimje so, the friars of the Conventual Franciscans Order newly started the activity in the monastery and every year welcome many pilgrims and tourists coming from all Europe. We wish to welcome also you!
